interpretive haiku zine
A graphic interpretation of a chosen haiku, utilizing geometric elements to effectively communicate the poem's visual themes.

I began conceptualizing my zine in highlighter, blocking out the geometric shapes I already had in mind to craft the features of a cat's paw, nose, tongue, and eye. From there I blocked out ideas for the general page composition and experimented with repeating shape motifs and ways in which typography could convey the poem's imagery.
digital iteration and color applications
The use of color wasn't required in this assignment, but in reading, the poem's imagery evoked the impression of spring emerging. Thus, I chose to apply green in my composition and in my final spread incorporated abstract plant shoots amongst the landscape of snow to further this visual.
